Valentine's Day Activities

It's hard to believe it's already time to start thinking about Valentine's Day! I wanted to share a few activities with you that I LOVE to do with my students to celebrate this sweet holiday!

Compliment Posters
These compliment posters make my kiddos feel the love! I mean who doesn't like a good compliment, right?! You could really do these posters anytime of the year, but I think they make the perfect class valentine's gift! To make them, I just glue a large black & white picture of each student onto a large piece of construction paper. Super simple! Then, the kids and I walk around the room to write a "heartwarming" compliment on each poster! After they are all completed, I laminate each one for the students to take home! They are always so proud of them!

My Heart is Full Writing Activity

To start this activity, I ask my students to tell me what fills their heart with love.

My first graders:
"my family"
"Jesus"
"books"
"the world"
"friends"
"school"
"pizza"
"chocolate"
"my teacher"
"my dog"
"my cat"
"my mommy and daddy"
"tacos"
"my house"
"my Barbie jeep"

This has to be one of the BEST discussions of the year...seriously love every single minute of it!!

After sharing with each other, I give each student a big, pink heart to illustrate their ideas. To go along with it, they also write about what makes their hearts full and why it was special/important to them. You can download the writing printable here!
So simple and sweet!!!
I just can't help but to smile every time I see these precious hearts!

Happy Valentine's Day!
