 For the first time in my life, my Christmas tree was put up before turkey day. Why? Because my sweet four year old had been asking for days for his Christmas tree. I have to admit starting Christmas early was too much fun!!! Love this time of year!

And this morning, magic happened... Our sweet elf traveled all the way from the North Pole with a very special breakfast for P....Rudolph pancakes, snowballs, hot chocolate, new jammies, & sweet treats, oh my! So much fun. Thank you, Sonnie {our elf}!

Activities Like.....Blog Hoppin' Linky Party {with freebie}

I'm excited to join my friends over at Blog Hoppin' to share a couple of activities I like love using in my classroom! These activities are super easy to prepare and keep my students engaged in their learning...win-win!

 First up...Roll & Retell

Let's face it, checking for understanding and answering comprehension questions can get BLAH real quick! To keep my students engaged in answering and asking questions about key details {R.L.1.1}, I have them play a dice game called Roll & Retell. My kiddos play this game during Daily 5, guided reading, independent/partner reading, as well as sometimes after they have listened to me read a book. It's so much fun that they want to read more just to continue playing it! You can download your own copy of Roll and Retell {here}:)

Math Journals
      Math journaling is also a big deal in my classroom!
It's a wonderful way to understand your students’ mathematical thoughts, problem-solving strategies, misconceptions, opinions, etc. An open-ended style math journal also acts as a differentiated assessment tool, as well as documentation of your students' growth! Can't get much better than that, huh?!!?

My kiddos use their math journals for 10-15 minutes at the beginning of our math segment. It's a special time for us to stretch our thinking and celebrate multiple solutions & strategies to work out a problem!

The cotton field down the road from my house was a perfect spot for our fall family pics. The cotton was in full bloom and gave the illusion of a soft blanket of snow! Can you say Christmas card pictures?!?! So excited!!!

Pumpkin Time!
Enjoyed every single moment of pumpkin carving and decorating with my sweet boy this week! He is currently obsessed with all things ninja turtles, so making a Leonardo pumpkin was a MUST to match his Leonardo costume. The things we do.
