Short and Long Vowel Flap Books & Freebie {Common Core Aligned}!!!

Tuesday, March 5, 2013
I'm still alive, y'all!!! So sorry for my absence! It has been an extremely busy year to say the least, but all is well!

I've been dying to get on here to share my latest Common Core creation with you!

Do you use flap books in your classroom?

My sweeties and I use them all the time! They are wonderful {and easy} to use as independent work, centers, small group lessons, homework, and formative assessments.

I usually have my kids make their own flap books using just plain white paper, but I decided to take it up a notch & create my first set of interactive {cut, sort, paste} Common Core flap books!

 In this first set, students cut, sort, and paste the words into their flap books by distinguishing the vowel sounds! All the flap books have the "I Can" statement {I can distinguish long from short vowel sounds in spoken single-syllable words.} on the front to keep  students focused on the learning target.
 Flap books included are:
Short Vowel Sort {a,e,i,o,u}
Long Vowel Sort {a,e,i,o,u}
Short and Long A Sort
Short and Long E Sort
Short and Long I Sort
Short and Long O Sort
Short and Long U Sort
Short and Long Vowel Words Sort {a,e,i,o,u}

Have a wonderful week!!!!

Hi Anna,

Do you have a template you use for your flapbooks? Do you use powerpoint? I am trying to create one for a science lesson, but not sure where to start.
