Christmas Questionnaire Fun!!

Tuesday, December 17, 2013
Happy Wednesday almost time for CHRISTMAS BREAK, friends! I'm linking up this evening with Michelle from Fabulous in First
for lots of  Q&A's  about the most wonderful time of the year:)

Hot Chocolate or Eggnog?
I'm really not a huge fan of either. Right now, I'm obsessed with peppermint lattes. Yum in a cup!

Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them underneath the tree?
Ever since I was a child, Santa just put them under the tree. Couldn't have it any other way for my little one & it saves Santa some wrapping time;)

Colored lights or white?
White, but I grew up with color.

When do you decorate?
This year, we decorated a few days before Thanksgiving. It was the first time our tree has ever been up before turkey day, but I was on break and had a four year old asking me every 5 minutes to get the boxes out of the garage. I've loved having a little extra time with all the Christmas decor.

Real or Fake Tree?
Fake...I grew up with real trees though & miss having one from time to time.

What Tops Your Tree?
Favorite Christmas Memories or Traditions?
My favorite childhood memory is being "the one" that popped up out of bed at 4am to see if Santa had arrived. Of course, I would wake my sisters up and drag them with me. My poor family....I know it won't be long before P starts this tradition in our home because he has a lot of his mama's personality.

Do you remember your favorite gift as a child?
Teddy Ruxpin was my favorite toy. Ohhh how I loved this storytelling bear! I remember just being mesmerized every time he would read to me.

Do prefer giving or receiving?

What is your favorite Christmas song?
Silent Night....cry every time we sing it at church.
Candy Canes. Yuck or Yum?
Not a real big fan.

Favorite Christmas Movie?
Do you shop online or at stores?
I love shopping in my pajamas, so most of my shopping is done online. Amazon Prime has been a huge help. You just can't beat free 2 day shipping!!

Photo Cards, Letter or Store Bought Card?
Photo cards {from Shutterfly}..look how much my baby has grown since his first Christmas! Where does the time go?!? Pass the tissues, please.

Now it's your turn! Link up over at Fabulous in First.

 2 more days....2 more days....2 more days.....

Just Graph It Sneak Peek {w/ freebies}

Monday, December 9, 2013

About a week ago, I posted my newest math unit, Just Graph It! It's packed full of hands-on graphing activities that you can use all throughout the year to reinforce organizing, representing, and interpreting data! Best part...you can use the activities in this packet in a variety of ways- math tubs, centers, small/whole group lessons, and/or as formative assessments!

Here's a little sneak peek at some of the activities...

Spin, Tally, and Graph It
I love, love, love these for independent work or math tubs!! Students spin a spinner {built in on the printables} 20 times using a paperclip and pencil. They record and represent what the spinner lands on by creating a tally chart and bar graph. Then, they analyze their data by answering questions and writing about it. **There are 20 different "Spin, Tally, and Graph It" printables that cover every holiday/season & more!**
Perfect Pictographs
Pictographs made simple! Students just cut and paste the pictures on the bottom of the printables to create a pictograph. Then, they interpret the data in the pictograph by answering questions about it.
Survey Says
My kids learn best when they can get up and move around. These "Survey Says" activities do just that! Students walk around the room asking their classmates a survey question while recording their responses using a tally chart. Once the tally chart is completed, they represent the results of their survey using a bar graph. Afterwards, they will interpret the data by writing facts about it. You can use these surveys for a whole or small group activity!
There are also class graph titles and pictures to go along with each survey like the ones shown below.

And now, I have a little freebie for you...

For the first time in my life, my Christmas tree was put up before turkey day. Why? Because my sweet four year old had been asking for days for his Christmas tree. I have to admit starting Christmas early was too much fun!!! Love this time of year!
And this morning, magic happened... Our sweet elf traveled all the way from the North Pole with a very special breakfast for P....Rudolph pancakes, snowballs, hot chocolate, new jammies, & sweet treats, oh my! So much fun. Thank you, Sonnie {our elf}!

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration yesterday! My day was full of gratitude, family, and LOTS of good food!! Just wanted to let y'all know how thankful I am for you. You inspire and help me every day to be a better teacher!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your love & support:)
